本論文の要旨は以下の通りです.

ABSTRACT:Water freezing phenomenon in small scales below 1 mm is an important research topic for further enhancing Lab-on-a-chip and microfluidic devices because its precise control can be various promising applications including storage of biochemical samples and flow manipulation in the tiny devices. A number of researches on water freezing and its applications have existed but there are still barriers remaining for making these be in practical use. Its fundamental understanding is one of the challenges, involving the effects of temperature distribution and flow of liquid water on freezing progression. Measurements of these are required to be conducted in non-contact and non-additive manners to avoid unfavorable heterogeneous ice nucleation promoted by measurement probes and additives. In the present study, image analysis with a Near Infrared (NIR) camera was utilized for freezing interface tracking and its progressing speed measurements of one-dimensional water freezing in a narrow space having a 500-μm depth, which is based on water NIR-absorption characteristics including its dependence on phase and temperature. This analysis enables the measurement to fulfill those requirements. The effect of temperature uniformity in liquid supercooled water on the freezing behavior was also investigated by using the water NIR absorption characteristics.
